About House N2 Home:
House N2 Home (HN2H) believes that everyone who has endured the trauma of homelessness deserves a home where they can begin to rebuild their lives. We partner with caseworkers throughout Washtenaw County to receive referrals for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness and into stable housing. Our volunteers then work one-on-one with each client to furnish their home with essential furniture and household items, creating a welcoming space that reflects their needs and preferences.

By transforming empty housing into homes, we help our neighbors build stability, independence, and hope. This work is made possible by an extraordinary community of volunteers whose generosity and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. At the same time, by giving donated furniture and household goods a second life, we keep thousands of quality items out of landfills each year—strengthening both our community and our environment.

We believe that one step in restoring dignity to individuals and families who have endured homelessness is to help them create a home that is functional, comfortable, and inviting. Using donated (and occasionally purchased) furniture and household goods, our team helps convert a house or apartment into a home, creating a space where individuals and families have the opportunity to thrive.

Position Summary:

Working closely with the Executive Director, this position plays a vital role in expanding community support, increasing organizational visibility, and securing the financial resources needed to sustain and advance our mission. The Development Manager supports the planning, evolution, and implementation of the development strategy and all of the necessary tactics for its success. This person is responsible for strengthening House N2 Home's fundraising efforts by identifying prospective donors and funders, cultivating community and donor relationships, coordinating fundraising campaigns and events, maintaining accurate donor records, and stewarding community and donor relationships.

This position is ideal for a collaborative, organized, and mission-driven professional who enjoys building relationships, managing multiple projects, and helping a growing nonprofit make a lasting impact.

Essential Responsibilities:

Donor Database & Stewardship

Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the donor database, including data entry of gifts, pledges, in-kind donations, and other donor records.
Train and supervise staff, interns, and volunteers on proper database entry procedures.
Process gift acknowledgments, invoices, and donor correspondence promptly and in accordance with IRS guidelines.
Perform routine database maintenance and data clean-up.
Generate fundraising reports, donor analytics, campaign summaries, and other reports for the Executive Director.
Identify opportunities for the Executive Director to make touchpoints with and steward donors.

Fundraising & Special Events

Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns, including mailing lists, campaign materials, and tracking campaign performance.
Work with the volunteer event committee by assisting in the planning and execution of the annual fundraiser.
Coordinate House N2 Home donor events and serve as the primary liaison for community events.

Grant Support

Maintain the grants calendar and ensure timely submission of applications, reports, and required documentation.
Support the Grants Team in researching and identifying grant opportunities.
Manage relationships with grant funders and serve as the primary point of contact as needed.
Assist Executive Director in preparing grant reports.

Communications & Development Support

Cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors, funders, volunteers, and community partners.
Supervise interns and volunteers supporting development activities.
Respond promptly to donor inquiries and maintain exceptional donor stewardship.
Support donor stewardship by ensuring timely recognition and responsive communication.
Perform other development-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Organizational Responsibilities

Support and uphold the mission, vision, and values of House N2 Home.
Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Represent House N2 Home professionally within the community.
Participate in outreach and community engagement activities as requested.
Collaborate and coordinate with other House N2 Home staff as needed and assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum three years of nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, or related experience.
Experience using fundraising or similar database systems.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
Proficiency in Google workspace and Excel.
Commitment to confidentiality and ethical fundraising practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers while also functioning independently.
Ability to work on-site at the House N2 Home office.
